Krasimir “Kris” Kanev — Technical Leadership
AK Solar Technologies is led by Krasimir Kanev, CEO and Head of Technical. Kris is an experienced advanced technician with a strong international technical background.
His journey started in Europe, where he worked on high-voltage DC trains as well as industrial electrical and solar installations. He later became Head of Technical for Sunways in Germany and China.
He also worked as an electrician in the UK before continuing his electrical and solar expertise in South Africa from 2010. This technical background gives AK Solar a strong foundation in professional solar design, installation and project delivery.

Company Registration
AK Solar Technologies was officially registered and began its journey in the renewable energy industry, focused on professional solar and storage solutions.
Opening of the Johannesburg Branch
Residential and grid-tie installations expanded, working alongside Sunways and Sofar Solar while growing the company’s Johannesburg presence.
Commercial Solar Installations
The team worked on Sofar Solar commercial installations and Sunways installations in South Africa, Spain and Turkey, strengthening the company’s international technical exposure.
Technical Assistance Nationwide
AK Solar Technologies worked alongside Rentech Renewable Technologies on commercial and residential installations, offering technical assistance across South Africa.
